!!!!ELECTION VICTORY!!!!

In a country that once wouldn't recognize African Americans as human, even in it's constitution, hung them from trees in retaliation of our independence and still sees us as incapable of doing many of the things that only whites had the smarts to do (OR SO THEY CLAIMED), we have struck out in defiance of such ignorance and elected an African American as the 44th PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!  We had to fight for our right to vote, to sit anywhere we wanted on a bus, to sit at the lunch counter and to even "look" at a white woman.  We fought and we never quit.

I suffered personal attacks from misguided individuals just like Barack did.  Those that chose to follow wicked sect leaders and the handful that petitioned to have their stupid ways obeyed, I too have overcome ignorance and stupidity from evil sources.  The majority always wins out.  Good always defeats evil and those that cannot think for themselves but must be led by the tongues eventually fall into the cracks of hell.  History has proven that and justice is always dispensed.

I have cried my way to a vision long sought out for my race, my people, my loves.  I called my Mother when Virginia (the Home of the Confederacy) was clinched and we both cried for something we thought would never happen in our lifetimes.  There's a Black man in the White House and he's the boss.

Martin Luther King wake up!  Your dream is a reality.

ONLY IN AMERICA!!!  WE ARE THE LEADERS AND WE HAVE SHOWN WHAT THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS CAN PRODUCE!

BARACK OBAMA.

Amongst the over 2 dozen congratulations I have received from my German friends abroad comes this sweet letter from a young woman who says a lot about what no one else my skin tone has endured.  She sort of understands.  She's not fully there yet but she's on the right track to a long way of fully understanding what I myself go/have gone thru in my lifetime.  Read it and get it:

Dear Marc,

I stayed awake until 6:30 this morning to watch the election unfold - what an amazing night.
Seeing the many black Americans who were crying when the victory was announced at 5 am my time got me to thinking though.

When characterizing myself, I place myself into many groups: liberal.... peace-loving..... democrat..... trekkie Augenzwinkern .

But the last thing on my mind would be: white.

I guess I take for granted the fact that I have never been discriminated against because of my race. I guess I take for granted the fact that I have never had to worry about my equal rights. I guess I take for granted the fact that due to all of that I hardly ever think in terms of races.

The black population of America has/is/ and will continue their fight for equality. I was told by a man from Georgia that he was not voting for Obama, because he was afraid that if black people saw a black man become president, they would think they could do whatever they want now. We are still not there yet - but we are on a good way.

In a couple of hours my evangelical white/hispanic friends from Texas will come online on Facebook and Myspace, howling out their despair about the downfall of American morals, the defeat of God, the coming of communism and who knows what else. I have had heated fights with a couple of them, I have been insulted beyond belief and one or two of my former Band member from High School are probably done talking to me in this lifetime - and vice versa I may add. But above all the howling I will make sure to point out to them, that despite their ideological and moral differences, their country made history last night.

I want to believe that one day race, gender, age, nationality, sexual orientation, religion and all of the factors that are dividing us and causing us so much heartache will be replaced by one big characterization: it will finally be recognized that we are all humans after all.

Millions of Americans and President Barack Obama have taken a giant step along that road last night - and that is something that every true democrat can be proud of.... may they be liberal or conservative.

Congratulations!

I WILL BE ATTENDING THE INAUGURATION OF BARACK OBAMA, THE 44th PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES IN WASHINGTON, D.C. ON JANUARY 20th, 2009.

PRESIDENT-ELECT BARACK OBAMA

VICE PRESIDENT ELECT JOE BIDEN
